To finish my superior grade in 3D animation, videogames and Interactive enviroments I was asked to make a small videogame with Unity along 3 other classmates. As the programmer of the team I focused on exploring challenging mechanics such as grinding splines or an integrated health system.
This project was the culmination of my Advanced Degree in 3D Animation, Video Games, and Interactive Environments, where I learned the fundamentals of every department—such as 3D modeling, concept art, animation, and, of course, programming.
The Game
Allium is a 3D platformer where the player must dodge enemies to prevent them from stealing their seeds, which serve as the health bar. To avoid enemies, players can grind on rails and run.
Unity
This project was developed in Unity, unlike my other projects. It was my first experience creating a game, and thanks to it, I eventually became a programming teacher years later.
Overall Experience
Even though we were short on time, it was a very fun and challenging experience. I pushed myself to create an engaging movement system for the player, which resulted in a spline-based grinding mechanic.
